New RS TV channel to be unveiled during Monsoon Session

A new Rajya Sabha television channel would be unveiled in the forthcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, with Upper House Chairperson Hamid Ansari recently giving his approval to it.

"The General Purpose Committee headed by Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari has cleared the proposal for a new television channel for the Upper House," a top official of Rajya Sabha Secretariat told PTI.

"Currently we are hunting for a location where the entire paraphernalia for the channel would be set up. Once the location is finalised then the logistics will be taken care of," he said.

According to official sources, as sufficient space is not available inside the Parliament House complex, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat is zeroing in on a location just outside the complex for setting up the channel.
